Himalayan region vulnerable to climate change:

Global warming can lead to floods and droughts. Planting Trees helps.
Himalayan Glaciers are melting

Chief secretary (Himachal Government) S Roy inaugurated a two-day workshop on “Snow and glaciers and the Himalayan River Systems” being organised by the State Centre on Climate Change of State Council for Science Technology and Environment here on Wednesday.

Climate change disasters are man made. Afforestation and planting trees can help prevent this.

Speaking on the occasion, Roy called upon all institutions and government functionaries to orient their research and planning initiatives in a manner that the resolve of the government to make the state carbon neutral was fulfilled and achieved in letter and spirit.

He said horticulture and agriculture and forest-based rural economy of the state was highly susceptible and likely to be adversely impacted on account of changing climate scenario.

Global warming will effect forest and fruit trees based rural economies

Roy said not only global warming, but there were several factors which were responsible for the reduction of the glaciers and they must make concerted efforts to make the various activities eco-friendly.

Climate change issues were of global concern and pose major challenge to mountain environment as mountain ecosystem was highly vulnerable and sensitive to climatic variations, he added.

Roy said the state had begun a crusade against climate change and a state action plan on climate changes had also been framed and was in the final stage of its launch.

Planting trees is the easiest way to combat climate change: Trees breathe in Carbon Di Oxide, the main cause for global warming and climate change, and through the process of photo-synthesis create food for themselves and breathe out Oxygen.

The simplest way to combat hunger and poverty is to plant trees

Trees also fight climate change, they breathe in Carbon di-oxide and through the process of photo-synthesis create food for themselves and breathe out Oxygen.

Fighting GHG and air pollution, planting trees give fruits and shade too,

Plant or gift a tree today:

As simple as it sounds, planting a tree makes a difference.
A tree has the potential to sequester about a ton of carbon over 50 years.
What's  more, It generates enough oxygen for two human beings for their lifetimes.
You are cleansing your air and making up for the carbon that you unintentionally emit.

So what are you waiting for?
