Take a break, its Earth Hour 2014

SGI celebrated Earth Hour by switching off all lights and electrical appliances and planting a tree

The last time we at Sustainable Green Initiative celebrated Earth Hour, it was 60 minutes well spent. Away from laptops and bestsellers, music on home systems and TV sets droning on about Indian politics, families chose to switch off all power circuits and enjoy a night of spring. People sat outside their houses, listened to crickets and insects and gazed up at the stars. The next day, friends and family exchanged notes and confessed it had been a long time since they sat together like that – not fiddling with phones or letting TV sets take over.

Every year Earth Hour saves huge amounts of energy, reducing Carbon pollution.

In that one hour, the world’s biggest celebration of Planet Earth, remarkable amounts of energy was saved all over the world. For numbers, have a look at: http://theenergycollective.com/sbattaglia/203061/earth-hour-2013-results-for

Switch off and celebrate Earth Hour.

Earth Hour promises to get bigger in 2014. http://www.earthhour.org/12-earth-hour-2014-stories.
We at SGI request all of you to take time out for an hour – switch off your electronic devices, turn off the lights and enjoy the night in the open.

Reducing carbon emissions by switching off is good for the planet.

We bet you’ll want more than 60 minutes.

Save the earth, switch off your electricity 830 pm onwards your time.

And plant trees. Trees reduce pollution, green house gases, retain water, charge aquifers, prevent soil erosion and provide nourishment.

Plant and gift a tree today.

Sustainable Green Initiative plants fruit trees on community lands like orphanages and old age homes and on lands owned by marginal and Bpl farmers.  We work with self help groups and NGOs who help us identify right beneficiaries who can continue the process of planting and nurturing trees.
